Show: Muldoon in the Afternoon Friday 12pm-2pm EDT Saturday 9pm-11pm EDT
Description: "Kentucky Girl" Gracie Muldoon, as she is known "on air", has presented a
Bluegrass and country program on radio since 2000. Starting in public
radio in Batavia (Cincinnati), Ohio, she quickly became a favorite, not
only of the area Bluegrass and country fans, but the "hard rockers" of
Cincinnati's Legendary rock station WEBN, were even tuning in to listen to
her upbeat personality on her Friday morning Bluegrass and Country
program. Gracie's program was an alternative ritual from their usual rock
radio fare and on April 19, 2004, it even garnered her an appearance as a
guest with the famous, and infamous, Eddie Fingers & the Dawn Patrol.
Gracie admits that she's come to love Bluegrass only in the last 10 years
(she was an old rocker too, but raised in a Bluegrass Gospel home). The
reason she turned to Bluegrass was that she got more and more into
"acoustic" sounds. She started with rock 'n' roll of the 70's, went to
old country music and finally to Bluegrass. She admits now that it is her
favorite musical genre, and though she still listens and likes other
genres of music, Bluegrass now reigns supreme. Her father and mother,
Rev. Carl Howard and Mary (Griffith) Howard, natives of the mountains of
Kentucky, are the local pastors in their Newport, Kentucky neighborhood.
Their congregational meetings began about 40 years ago in 1968. Gracie
and her two sisters, Rosemary and Carlene, were always singing Bluegrass
gospel at home and in church. She well knows about the "feel" and
"traditions" of true Bluegrass music. Gracie got into webcasting three
years ago and found it to be exciting, challenging, stimulating and now
has established a worldwide fan base. Celebrity interviews are a large
part of her Friday shows and she's talked with some of the best in
Bluegrass, e.g. Charlie Daniels, Rhonda Vincent, Jesse McReynolds, Doyle
Lawson, John Cowan, Darrel Scott, Todd Taylor, James Reams, J. D. Crowe,
Jim VanCleve and the list goes on and on. She has "captured" some of the
greatest talents in broadcasting to fill her live DJ spots as well. Be
sure to tune into "Muldoon in the Afternoon" and "Muldoon With The Blue
Moon" on Saturdays to hear some of the best contemporary and traditional
Bluegrass music and interviews with some of the biggest names and exciting
newcomers, in Bluegrass music. Don't miss a little, 'cause you'll miss a
lot! |
