Show: Runnin' the Ridge Monday 7pm-9pm EDT
Description: Jonathan Estep began broadcasting on World Wide Bluegrass when he was 15
years old. While some folks may think that may be a rather young age,
Jonathan is quite an accomplished Bluegrass musician. He plays mandolin,
upright bass, guitar, and piano. He can sing just about any vocal part
and has been the solo host on his World Wide Bluegrass show "Running the
Ridge" since the spring of 2007. Jonathan has interviewed Russell Moore,
"Little" Roy Lewis, Jamie Dailey and Darrin Vincent and several others for
his show. Jonathan began singing in church at the age of 2 1/2. Jonathan
started playing the bass at the age of 8 1/2 with the Bluegrass gospel
band "The King's Strings". At the time, he was so height-challenged and
the bass was as upright as ever and he had to stand on a milk crate to
play the instrument. After 7 and a half years of playing the bass for his
father's Bluegrass gospel band Revival Ridge (during which time he,
needless to say, out-grew the milk crate) Jonathan switched to the
full-time mandolin job in the band. Jonathan teaches private music
lessons, runs Solid Sounds Studios in his hometown of Bellevue, Kentucky
and does some studio musician work when the opportunity presents itself.
Check Jonathan out on www.myspace.com/revivalridge. Jonathan plays Grey
Eagle mandolins exclusively. |
