Biography: Brady Smith is a native of the Dayton, Ohio area. He graduated from Bowling Green State University, in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science in Education. He then went on to teach High School Biology and Anatomy. While teaching, Brady completed the Police Academy and began a career in Law Enforcement. Brady currently serves as an officer for the Cedarville Police Department and a Sergeant for Greene County Ohio’s Ranger Division. He has been an officer since 1994. Brady has completed more than fifteen hundred hours of specialized training. He is an instructor in many law enforcement areas, such as, Defensive Tactics and Firearms as well as training all new officers. Although he lives in the Dayton area Brady can be found frequently at his second home deep in the hills of West Virginia. Brady enjoys spending as much time there as possible. Most of the benefits from these excursions are working on the property and spending time with family and friends. Besides music, another true passion for Brady is hunting, whether in the woods turkey, deer hunting or following a pack of beagles after a rabbit. His love of music dates back to before he can remember. Growing up he listened to only country and Bluegrass radio and recordings. When asked what his favorite singers or groups have been over the years, Brady says, “George Jones, Merle Haggard, The Osborne Brothers, Vern Gosdin, The Lost and Found and John Anderson were my favorites, to name just a few”. As modern country music took a turn away from his preferences, Brady’s interests moved entirely toward Bluegrass music. Brady has attended hundreds of concerts throughout the years and still enjoys attending as many Bluegrass events as possible. He began as a self-taught mandolin player a few years back and often spends hours each day behind a mandolin. It is difficult for Brady to find time to play with others, in a band or jam environment, with his work schedule so as a student of the mandolin he enjoys attending as many mandolin workshops as possible. He has managed to learn a great deal from some of the greatest mandolin players today such as Mike Compton, Roland White, Skip Gorman, Butch Waller, Frank Wakefield and Bobby Osborne to name a few. Don’t miss Brady’s LIVE weekly show “The Bluegrass Beat” right here on World Wide Bluegrass. “Sergeant Brady is Bustin’ the Best in Bluegrass” from past to present. Whether it’s the hottest mandolin pickers of all times or an interview with one of the stars of Bluegrass, Sergeant Brady will make sure your grass is blue on the WWB. |
