Born right in the middle of the baby boom generation and raised in the small town of Sinton near Corpus Christi, Texas, Ken has always enjoyed listening to music and played cornet and baritone in junior high and high school. His musical listening tastes centered around country music resulting in becoming a Johnny Cash fan in particular during the 1960's. Having seen commercial country music go through various phases over the decades, Ken finally became disillusioned with its departure from its traditional roots as the 20th century drew to a close. Then one day in early 2001 while driving he heard a country music station play "I Am A Man Of Constant Sorrow" by the Soggy Bottom Boys from the movie, "O Brother, Where Art Thou?". The DJ laughed rather derisively when the song finished, but Ken realized that this is what he wanted to listen to - real music played on real instruments by real musicians singing songs about real life. Shortly after this, the local public radio station began airing a weekly bluegrass show hosted by Lance Kinney of the University of Alabama and his education into bluegrass music was into full flight, expanding with each new bluegrass CD purchased and with each bluegrass show and stream he found on the Internet. Ken is learning to play guitar and, after gaining some skill at that, would like to learn to play mandolin, also. He lives in El Dorado, Arkansas, with his wife, Jo Lynn, and their dogs, and has worked as an accountant for Murphy Oil Corporation since 1978.
