Interviewer: Becky Taylor
Description: Jens was born in Sweden in 1982. He grew up in a big family of nine kids. He started playing the 5-string during his early teens thanks to his Uncle Bertel. Jens started out his musical career with his brother Björn (on guitar) and two other brothers as the band "Street" playing on the streets of Gothenburg earning enough money for some nice lunch and fresh banjo strings. During this time, he learned the basics of the three finger Scruggs style.
In the late 90's he started playing with some different bands and in late 2005 a group guys met and formed G2, which finally feels like home to Jens. Jens would be able to travel in the US during 2002, 2003 and 2004 and "had the time of my life experiencing Bluegrass music at its best and got the opportunity to meet wonderful musicians and friends for life."
G2's debut CD, "Where The Tall Grass Grows" was released at the end of October 2007. And things are happening fast for G2. May 2007 in Holland at the EWOB (European World of Bluegrass), they were named the Outstanding European Bluegrass Band, the first time a Scandinavian group had won the competition. As a result, they’ll be performing at the IBMA (International Bluegrass Music Association) Fan Fest in Nashville in October and touring the States. |
