Description:
Born and raised in East Tennessee, Justin "Dusty" Moses has been playing music since he was six. He began performing with his family's gospel group in churches soon after learning his first chords on the mandolin. As a teen he won several awards for his playing at regional contests. Shortly after graduating high school he joined the band Kentucky Wind, which included Tim Tipton and Keith Garrett. He then helped form Blue Moon Rising in late 2000. Bluegrass band Blue Moon Rising unite several pickers and songwriters from Tennessee and Kentucky, blending contemporary and traditional bluegrass styles. After leaving the band in 2004 he became a founding member of the band Sierra Hull & Highway 111 and performed at several prestigious bluegrass festivals with them in 2005. Justin Moses is an accomplished instrumentalist playing mandolin, guitar, banjo, fiddle, dobro and bass. His instrumental talents are showcased on his solo album, "Dusty Roads" (2006) where he also debuts on lead vocals on several tracks. He performed with both bluegrass bands, Blue Moon Rising and New Found Road in 2006 and 2007. Tim Stafford of Blue Highway says "Justin Moses is one heckuva talented bluegrass musician. If you want to hear someone who doesn't dabble but can really *play* all the instruments, check out this record. His mastery of the language of modern bluegrass is evident, but there's even more here--a touch, a feel for great arrangements and writing. I see a big future for Justin Moses."
