Interviewer: Becky Taylor
Description: One weekend in October 2005, five guys teamed up to jam and play some Bluegrass, just to have a good time After a while they realized that they really had something going on, which they wanted to develop. So they met again a few months later. This time they all agreed to make something out of it. The group G2 was started. Considering the fact that all of the guys are somewhere in their 20s, they are a considerably young band and resemble the younger Bluegrass musicians of Sweden today. Therefore, they are the second generation of Bluegrass players, with their future ahead of them. G2 is a band built upon friendship and all of the guys knew each other before they started to play as a group. These guys are determined to play the Bluegrass and they do it in their own way. Already after just a few sessions, the band has found their personal sound. The members are: Christoffer Olsson - guitar & vocals
Erik Igelström - mandolin
Tobias Strömberg - dobro & vocal
Jimmy Sunnebrandt - acoustic bass & vocals
Jens Koch - banjo
The bluegrass group notes Tim O'Brien, Jerry Douglas, Chris Thile, Bryan Sutton, Sam Bush, Alison Krauss, Buddy Miller, Mark O'Connor, Tony Rice, Neko Case, Mike Marshall, Jim Mills, Dolly Parton, The Rosenberg Trio, Gillian Welch, Kris Kristofferson, Big Easy, Harv, Wayne Taylor as their musical influences. G2 won the EWOB (European World Of Bluegrass) contest. G2's debut CD should be released sometime at the end of October 2007. |
